caracal safety
We want you to use your Caracal in a safe and responsible manner. The basic safety rules for all firearms are the same:
-
Always keep your Caracal pointed in a safe direction.
It does not matter whether your Caracal is loaded or unloaded you must always point the weapon in a safe area so that there is no risk of injury or damage. Muzzle control is the key – always know where your muzzle is pointing. Always think of your weapon as loaded, that way you are less likely to make a mistake. -
Always keep your finger at the ready position, not on the trigger.
Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. This is not only an important safety element, but your finger resting alongside the trigger guard also helps you to naturally point the Caracal. Only place your finger on the trigger when you are ready to take a shot. -
Store your Caracal unloaded, with ammunition stored separately.
Keep your weapon unloaded while in storage. Load the weapon only when you need to. Use the patented Caracal magazine lock! Store ammunition separately. -
Know your target and what is beyond.
Identify your target and always check what is behind it. This is especially important when enjoying sport shooting on open land. Remember, your bullet will travel long distances at lethal velocity. Never shoot into water or hard surfaces – bullets can ricochet and cause serious or fatal injuries. -
Understand your Caracal and make sure it is safe to operate.
Pistols need constant maintenance and care. Make sure that you regularly get a qualified gun-smith to ensure that your weapon remains within the manufacturer's specifications. Never take a chance firing a weapon when you are unsure of its serviceability. A full Caracal cleaning guide is on this website. -
Use high quality ammunition.
The Caracal is available in both 9 x 19mm and 9 x 21mm calibers. Always verify your ammunition caliber before using it in your Caracal firearm. Always use quality ammunition from recognized brands. If you hand load ammunition yourself make sure that it follows the SAAMI /CIP specifications. -
Wear eye and ear protection as appropriate.
Always use eye and ear protection when shooting firearms. 9mm ammunition is very damaging to human hearing and sustained exposure will damage your ears – permanently. Always use quality hearing protection designed for shooting. Hot gases and debris from shooting are also very common – eye protection is essential. Make sure that observers do the same. Again, use branded and pre-tested equipment specifically designed for shooting. Never mix alcohol or drugs with shooting. Do not shoot while under the effects of over the counter or prescription medications. -
Store guns so they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.
Whether you are storing a weapon long term or for home defense always think about where it is and who could gain unauthorized access, especially children or those prohibited under law from having access to firearms or ammunition. *Safety is your sole responsibility. These rules are provided as an informational service only, are not intended to provide professional advice, and are not inclusive of all procedures potentially necessary to ensure the safe and responsible handling of firearms. These rules should not be alone relied upon to provide a complete guide for firearm safety. To learn more, consider taking an approved National Rifle Association safety course on firearms.
